Rapper B.O.B and lead vocalist of PARAMORE have teamed up for a single “AIRPLANES” from B.O.B’s debut studio album. “B.O.B presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray”. Song was produced by Alex da Kid, co-producing with DJ FRANK. The song has a music and chorus written by KINETICS AND ONE LOVE. The song was released to urban radio on April 27, 2010. The song sold 138,000 digital downloads in its first week and debuted at #5 on BILLBOARD HOT DIGITAL SONGS chart. The song reached #1 in U.K as well as New zealand and top three in Australia, Canada and U.S. The song became a bigger success in U.S by selling over 4 million digital downloads by December 2010. The song was #6 on Billboard’s Year End Chart. The song became 21st most downloaded in British Chart History.

The theme of the song is about regretting mistakes we’ve made and longing for a today. The original version of the song had verses written by Lupe Fiasco. Later the song was given to B.O.B by his label. According to Williams the duo had never get together to record the song and had never met each other in person. B.O.B had shot his scenes for video in April but Williams was able to shot only after the Paramore’s spring tour. They first met during the 2010 MTV music video awards when they performed “AIRPLANES” for the first time together. Video features B.O.B rapping his verses in a party setting, on stage, in a room filled with lights while Williams sings in a room filled with lights and walking through photographs. The video is being nominated for Video of the year at BET Awards 2011.
A sequel to the song was also released titled “AIRPLANES II” which has two new verses by B.O.B and vocals by EMINEM and HAYLEY WILLIAMS too. The sequel song features a faster beat and chorus by HAYLEY WILLIAMS. The song was produced by Alex da Kid with additional production by EMINEM.B.O.B posted the song on his official Twitter account claiming that he wanted to leak the song himself since other songs from the album were leaked too. The song was performed at 2010 BET Awards on June 2010 by B.O.B, EMINEM and KEYSHIA COLE in a medley with EMINEM’s “NOT AFRAID”. “AIRPLANES II” received a GRAMMY Nomination for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.
